Buddy Walk - October 2013
The Buddy Walk was developed by the National
Down Syndrome Society in 1995
to bring together a wide range of concerned individuals to reach out to
friends, family, and co-workers to promote awareness and inclusion for
people with Down Syndrome and to raise funds for local and national
education, research, and advocacy programs. This is the eighth Annual Buddy
Walk Festival for the Lowcountry Down Syndrome Society.
Forsyth Park in downtown Savannah,
During the month of October, National
Down Syndrome Awareness Month, more than 300 Buddy
Walks will occur, throughout the United States.
The Lowcountry Down Syndrome Society
Buddy Walk Festival will be held in October 2013.
We will have rides, food, games, and music
for the whole family.
Children, young adults, and adults with
Down Syndrome, family members, friends, healthcare professionals,
corporate teams, and members of
the community - bring a wagon, a stroller, and your dog.
All are welcome!
The Buddy Walk is a one-mile walk in which anyone can participate
without special training. After the walk, you and your
family will enjoy
entertainment for everyone including face painting, carnival
games, blow up slides, music, and more!
