The Lowcountry Down Syndrome
Society is a family support group to benefit people with Down
syndrome and their
families
through
local leadership in support, outreach, education and advocacy.
Dear Friends,
I am glad to introduce our family support
group for anyone touched by Down syndrome in the greater
Savannah/Lowcountry area. Candy and I joined with
other families in the area to start our support group in
February
2006.
We have quickly grown and we now outreach to families in
the eight surrounding counties. We have meetings every 4th
Tuesday of the month. We typically have a guest speaker and
social time for families to meet and interact with one another.
We encourage people to bring their children. We are an affiliate
of the National
Down Syndrome Society.
We had our first Buddy
Walk - which
was wonderfully successful - at Forsyth Park in downtown
Savannah on October 7, 2006. Nearly 1,600
people came out to support Down syndrome awareness. Our fifth Buddy Walk is planned
for October 23, 2010 at Forsyth Park. Please
come to our next meeting.
If you have any questions or needs,
please call or e-mail.
